Little Drum Solar Farm

Welcome to the project website for Grupotec’s proposal to develop a solar farm south-east of Kirkcudbright.

For the September 2024 Exhibition Material and Online Feedback Form, please visit the ‘Consultation’ Tab.

The Little Drum proposal is at an early stage of development and we are exploring plans for a solar farm that, if consented, will be able to generate approximately 36MW of renewable energy each year alongside 12MW of battery storage. The proposal, if consented and constructed, will be able to supply the equivalent electricity needs of over 11,000 homes.

Consultation

Early engagement on the proposal is important to Grupotec. We held the first public consultation event on Thursday 5th September 2024, from 2pm - 8pm at The Johnston, St Mary St, Kirkcudbright, DG6 4EG.

Feedback from this round of consultation can be submitted until 27 September 2024. We will then hold a further event on Tuesday 8th October 2024, from 2pm - 8pm at The Johnston, St Mary St, Kirkcudbright, DG6 4EG.

We are committed to using the local supply chain and, should the project be consented, we will organise ‘Meet the Developer’ events to allow local construction and maintenance companies to find out about opportunities to help deliver the development.

Project Partners

Grupotec and REG Power Developments (REG) are working together to roll out green energy projects across the UK, incorporating solar farms and battery storage. Both companies have an established and successful track record in renewables development both in the UK and abroad.

Founded in 1997, Grupotec is a global renewable energy developer operating in 16 countries and has built over 60 solar farms across the UK. Since 2005, REG has developed nearly 1,000MW of wind, solar and bioenergy projects in the UK with around 40 projects built and in operation today.

If approved, the Little Drum Renewable Energy park would be built and operated by Grupotec.
